Property Photos
Photos are the most important part of your listing. Prospects are far more likely to engage with properties that have quality images. Your AI agent can also reference photos when answering questions about a property.
Adding Photos
Open any property from your dashboard and scroll to the Photos section at the top of the edit form. You can:
- Drag and drop images onto the upload area
- Click the upload area to browse and select files
Photos upload instantly in the background. You can continue editing property details while images upload.
Note: You must save a new property before adding photos. Once saved, the Photos section becomes available.
Supported Formats
| Format | Extensions |
|---|---|
| JPEG | .jpg, .jpeg |
| PNG | .png |
| WebP | .webp |
| HEIC | .heic (iPhone default) |
Maximum file size: 10 MB per image.
All images are automatically converted to JPEG during upload for consistency and smaller file sizes.
Automatic Optimization
When you upload a photo, Rentalot automatically:
- Resizes images to a max of 2000px on the longest side
- Compresses to a web-friendly size (~500 KB) while preserving quality
- Strips metadata including GPS location, camera info, and other EXIF data for privacy
- Generates multiple sizes for fast loading — thumbnails for search results, medium for listings, and full-size for the photo viewer
You don’t need to pre-resize or optimize your images. Upload straight from your phone or camera.
Photo Limits
Each plan has a per-property photo limit:
| Plan | Photos per Property |
|---|---|
| Free Trial | 5 |
| Starter | 10 |
| Pro | 15 |
| Scale | 20 |
The upload area shows your current count (e.g., “3/10 photos”). When you reach your limit, the upload area is hidden.
Ordering Photos
The first photo is your cover image. It appears on:
- Property cards in your dashboard
- Search results and listing pages
- Social media previews when your listing link is shared
Use the arrow buttons that appear when you hover over a photo to move it up or down in the order. The photo in the first position gets a “Cover” badge.
Tip: Choose a bright, well-lit exterior or living room shot as your cover image.
Deleting Photos
Hover over any photo and click the X button to delete it. The photo is permanently removed from both your listing and our storage.
How Prospects See Your Photos
On your public listing page, prospects see:
- A large hero image (your cover photo)
- A thumbnail strip below for browsing all photos
- A full-screen viewer when they click any image, with arrow key navigation
Photos load fast regardless of the prospect’s connection — we serve appropriately sized versions based on their screen.
Tips for Great Listing Photos
- Shoot in daylight — natural light makes rooms look larger and more inviting
- Include all rooms — bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living area, and any standout features
- Show the exterior — front of building, parking area, outdoor spaces
- Highlight amenities — in-unit laundry, updated kitchen, balcony, pool
- Keep it clean — declutter before shooting; remove personal items
- Go wide — use a wide angle to show full rooms, not just corners
- Order matters — lead with your best exterior shot, then kitchen/living room, then bedrooms
Privacy
All personal metadata (GPS coordinates, camera serial numbers, timestamps) is automatically stripped from your photos before they’re stored. Only the image pixels are kept.
